AFA Kids & Youth Club

Youth development

Our guiding principle is the fostering of positive youth development in Cameroon through sports. AFA Kids & Youth Club offers children an opportunity to learn to play soccer and find the charm of team sport through playful training, without performance pressure. The AFA Kids & Youth Club gives the children aged between 5 and 15 an opportunity to learn and play football once a week all year round with experienced coaches.

In addition to enhancing physical abilities and health, sport contributes to the character development of young people. It fosters confidence, self-esteem, tolerance, responsibility, fairness, discipline, respect for the opponent and the rules of the game. Hence, sport promotes such skills and values that are needed throughout life.

Social responsibility

The AFA Kids & Youth Club welcomes any interested youth soccer player. However, our particular focus is on disadvantaged children in Cameroon, such as on those who are out-of-school or at risk of dropping out of school, many of whom live and work on the streets. The AFA Kids & Youth Club helps the disadvantaged young people to reach their full potential, offers them an opportunity to develop life skills and provides them education. For this, we cooperate intensively with schools, orphanages and NGOs.

The AFA Kids & Youth Club is also our primary platform for recruiting adolescents aged 14–15 as volunteers at AFA Holiday Camps and the Fando Kids tournament. By offering the young people positions of trust and working experience, we want to help them to take their future into their own hands.
